My mother is a great fan of gardens and on a recent visit around Thanksgiving I took her out to see the

Huntington Botanical Gardens in San Marino, CA. These are agave cactus from the desert garden that I

discovered while taking a break from a wonderful guided tour.

I love having the opportunity to go into an operating room. In this case I was there to illustrate a

feature on minimally invasive surgery. We are looking at the video image of a lung. The surgeons three

small openings in the side of the patient. Two of the holes are used to insert the surgical instruments and

the third is used for the endoscope camera.

It was shot for an upcoming issue of Cedars-Sinai Discoveries.
