I love having the opportunity to go into an operating room. In this case I was there to illustrate a

feature on minimally invasive surgery. We are looking at the video image of a lung. The surgeons three

small openings in the side of the patient. Two of the holes are used to insert the surgical instruments and

the third is used for the endoscope camera.

 

It was shot for an upcoming issue of Cedars-Sinai Discoveries.

    Somehow, even with all the evident technology, the green shapes remind me of Captain Video and The Video Rangers. Great shot. The color is gorgeous. And then there is the wonder of the process itself.

    You may remember me speaking of my old friend Lester del Rey who was my host at the Trapped Door Spiders’ Society meeting. Lester was the ’science’ consultant to Captain Video in the early 50’s.
